In december the I finally got back on the horse competing again. After over a year with no competitions due to sickness it was cool to finally suit up with a bib over my shoulders again.
My season started off in one of my favorite places to compete: Val di Fiemme. On top of that, my competition debut happend to be a pretty big event called the Universiade. Its basically the students Olympics and has over 2500 athletes from more than 50 countries competing in some 10 different sports.
We had a normal 10k gundersen race and the good old 10k mass-start (which is not a world cup discipline anymore). In both competitions I was jumping on a pretty good level and have to say I am happy with my performance. In the crosscountry races I struggled to keep the pace on the last 4 km which left me, on a bit dissapointing, 15th and 13th overall rankings. But as the first competitions since march 2012 I don’t think I could expect too much. Overall the Universiade proved to be an awesome experience yet again.
Christmas has been spent chasing snow, as its a terrible winter in Oslo. Back and forth between Oslo and Lillehammer/Sjusjøen has been the solution. Last weekend 2014 was kicked off with a Norgescup in Lillehammer. It didn’t quite go my way, but I feel like its really close. Therefore I am optimistic heading into the continentalcups in Høydalsmo this weekend. I have had some of my best results in Høydalsmo which leaves me with a good feeling about the weekend to come.
The US nordic combined team have just completed a trainingcamp in Europe, and they are starting to look strong. Even superhuman.
